Health & Medical Equipment

There are many forms of medical equipment and assistive devices available to help people living with arthritis in their day-to-day lives. Whether it is to aid in activities of daily living or assist in recovery from a fall or surgery, there is equipment available to accommodate various needs. This section contains information on services that provide health and medical equipment on a for-loan basis, some on a no fee for rental basis (e.g. the Canadian Red Cross) and information on services that will design custom made equipment to suit individual needs.

It is important to consult your health care provider to determine the type of medical equipment that might be helpful for you.

  • On-loan Equipment (for post surgical needs)
  • Custom-made Equipment (orthotics, splints, wheelchairs, household modifications)
  • Retail or Ready-made Equipment (Adaptive devices to improve function and mobility at home or in the workplace)
