Arthritis Self Management Program (ASMP)

The Arthritis Society strongly recommends that people living with any kind of arthritis should participate in an Arthritis Self-Management Program (ASMP). This program is supported by The Arthritis Society and is key to enhancing coping skills and to living a healthy, active life with arthritis.

ASMP is a six-session (two hours once a week) health education program designed to help people better understand their arthritis. The self-management techniques taught in this volunteer-led program will not only help participants to better understand and cope with their symptoms but will provide the necessary skills and confidence to become good self-managers of their condition.

The sessions are highly interactive, focusing on building skills, sharing experience and gaining support.

The cost of the course per participant is $25, which includes the book, “The Arthritis Helpbook” by Dr. Kate Lorig and Dr. James Fries and supporting materials. Spouses and families are welcome to participate at an additional cost of $10 (no book) per person.
